Environmental organisations not happy with Zandvoort: "It's as clear as day"

According to interim director Marc Janssen van Duinbehoud, Circuit Zandvoort has been working on the circuit for years without the necessary permits. According to Janssen all this work goes unpunished.

"It's as clear as day," said Janssen to the Haarlems Dagblad. "For the past few years the circuit has been carrying out work without the necessary permits. Afterwards, the municipal and provincial authorities repair the violations of the law. The violations are left undisturbed and unpunished. The tolerance attitude encourages the violation of the law."

Zandvoort has had a major renovation of the circuit last year in order to be able to welcome Formula 1 back in 2020 after an absence of 35 years. Due to the coronavirus, however, this year's Dutch Grand Prix was cancelled and the circuit will have to wait at least another year.

Incidentally, this is not the first time that Zandvoort has come under fire from environmental organisations. Janssen says that environmental organisations are tired of the circuit on the coast getting away with everything. "For us it's full to the brim, this is what's going on."
