Pietro Fittipaldi was one of the young drivers who were active in the Bahrain testing this week as the youngster tested for Haas F1. Fittipaldi revealed he was in constant contact with his grandfather, two-time F1 world champion Emerson Fittipaldi, who wanted to know everything Pietro did.
Emerson is a big supporter of his grandchild, and he takes every chance to give him some advice, Pietro revealed.
"After a heat or a test he always calls me," Pietro told Motorsport-Total.
"He's always tried to be close to me and hand over his experience to me.
However, Emerson does realise that Pietro needs to carve out his own path and learn himself, rather than just listen to him.

"He also wants me to learn things on my own, because he believes you have to make your own mistakes."
Emerson stopped racing in 1996 after a heavy accident in the IndyCar, before Pietro was even born. Last year, Pietro drove in IndyCar himself, and having his grandfather as an advisor for that proved very handy.
"When I drove in IndyCar last year, hij tried to carry over his experience by telling me how he remembered tracks. That was very helpful."
