The battle between Max Verstappen and Picnic will soon get a finale. The online supermarket has to answer for the advertisement it broadcasted a few years ago. The Red Bull driver demands compensation, but the Dutchman has no certainty for the time being. That let Nu.nl know.
The lawsuit is about a commercial in which Picnic used a lookalike who looked exactly like Verstappen. The actor was dressed in a complete racing outfit and wore a cap that resembled the version of the Limburger. Once Verstappen got wind of the commercial, the Dutch driver decided to go to court.
At first, Verstappen was proven right by the judge, who ruled that Picnic did not act according to the rules of the law, but in the appeal, the supermarket chain was proven right. According to the judge, it was clearly visible that it was not Verstappen, but an actor. The case will therefore be heard by the Supreme Court in 2022.

The ruling will follow at the beginning of next year

The number one in the world championship hopes to win the case, but that is not certain at this stage. After more than four years of litigation, both parties hope to get clarity within a few months. The Supreme Court will deliver its verdict on March 22nd 2022.
