Former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has lashed out at the stewards for various moments during the 2021
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Brit reveals he is pleased that
Max Verstappen won the World Championship, but suggests the stewards should be banned. Fellow TV presenter Piers Morgan suggests
Lewis Hamilton was robbed by "rule-bending officials".
Drama at the highest order
Throughout the whole season, the stewards have been forced to get involved in the World Championship title fight between
Lewis Hamilton and
Max Verstappen. In recent weeks, they have come under fire for seemingly being inconsistent. In Brazil, Verstappen ran off the track to stay ahead of Hamilton who tried to make an overtake. The Dutchman didn't pick up a penalty, but he did a similar action in Saudi Arabia and a penalty was awarded.
In the
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Hamilton ran wide off the circuit on lap one to hold a position whereas Verstappen stayed within the white lines. Race control said an investigation wasn't needed. Eight minutes into the race and Clarkson took to Twitter to give his opinion.
Frustration at Hamilton
Sergio Perez played the ultimate team role by managing a long-stint on the soft tyres. Perez led the race and kept Hamilton behind for a couple of laps whilst Verstappen closed the gap to his rival significantly. Hamilton reported on the radio that Perez was driving dangerously, and Clarkson has a simple response to that.
