Christian Horner was given the 'Commander of the Order of the British Empire' title by King Charles III this Wednesday. The Red Bull Racing team principal was awarded the 'CBE' title for his service in motorsports.
Red Bull Racing had an eventful season with internal turmoil and many key figures departing the team. Horner was also cleared after allegations of transgressive behaviour surfaced at the start of the season. While the team missed out on a third consecutive constructors' title, Max Verstappen managed to top the individual standings.
Today, Horner received the CBE title at Buckingham Palace by King Charles III, after he made the 2024 New Year Honours list back in 2023. That is the title one below being knighted and having the title 'Sir' or 'Dame'.
In 2013, the Red Bull team principal already earned the OBE [Officer of the British Empire] merit. When his CBE award was announced, he said: "It was an unexpected distinction a decade ago to be presented with an OBE, and to receive this second award, a CBE, is one for which I am hugely grateful and deeply honoured."
