David Richards, the chairman of Motorsport UK says a British Grand Prix on a street circuit will be inappropriate. The future of
Formula 1's relationship with
Silverstone is in doubt over financial problems.
The current deal expires in 2020, and the two parties have yet to agree on a future deal. Richards states that a British Grand Prix is only suitable at Silverstone.
"In my opinion, Silverstone is the only place that can host a race. Putting everything in a different place such as a street circuit would be inappropriate. It is crucial and for the good health of motorsport in this country that we have a Formula 1 race," the chairman of Motorsport UK told Autosport.
Chase Carey is looking at holding a race on the streets of London.
