After the Grand Prix in Imola,
Valtteri Bottas blamed
George Russell for the crash and pointed to his tyres for his poor qualifying. However, according to
Ralf Schumacher, the Finn should also look in the mirror.
While
Lewis Hamilton battled
Max Verstappen for victory in
Imola, Bottas was not upfront with the same Mercedes. In qualifying, Bottas had already conceded a lot to the duo and in the race, he fought for P9 with Russell. Those two crashed out, after which Bottas didn't look in the mirror.
Pressure mounts on Bottas
''I am very disappointed in Valtteri. I didn't find his reaction after the race at all sympathetic and there was not one bit of self-criticism,'' the former Formula One driver says in a video from
Sky Germany. The German sees the pressure mounting on Bottas, and feels that is why the Finn reacted so coolly after the GP.
''Bottas knows it will be very difficult for him. He is under a lot of pressure, and I think he is very dissatisfied with himself. Bottas is a bit broken since he almost lost to Russell in Bahrain'', Schumacher concludes. Russell eventually took the blame for the crash, while Bottas pointed to his tyres as the culprit for his weak qualifying.
