The Belgian Grand Prix qualifying session produced one set of results, but the starting grid will look different once all grid penalties are applied ahead of Sunday's race. Among those affected are Lando Norris and Isack Hadjar, both set to drop down the order after receiving grid penalties.
While the top two qualifiers, Kimi Antonelli and Max Verstappen, are set to retain their starting positions barring any further developments before the race, the reigning world champion will lose the third place he secured in qualifying. He will instead start from 13th after serving the 10-place grid penalty that had already been confirmed ahead of the weekend.
Hadjar will also serve a grid penalty after exceeding his allocated power unit component allowance. Knowing he would have to start from the back of the grid regardless, the Frenchman twice provided a tow for his teammate in Q3 in an attempt to help Verstappen secure pole. The strategy was only partially successful, with the four-time world champion ultimately qualifying second.
The Frenchman will start from 21st on the grid, ahead of only Fernando Alonso, who has been handed an additional 20-place grid penalty. Aston Martin teammate Lance Stroll has also received a 10-place grid drop and will line up 20th for the Belgian Grand Prix.
No further changes are expected throughout the rest of the grid, with George Russell gaining one position. That will allow Mercedes to field two cars against Verstappen at the front, rather than leaving Antonelli to take on the Dutchman alone. Below is the full provisional grid.
