Aston Martin had an excellent race in Monaco after a difficult opening of the season. Whereas Sebastian Vettel finished just behind the top four, Lance Stroll had to settle for eighth position. The latter driver has the feeling that Aston Martin will soon become constant.
Aston Martin's high positions were partly due to the retirement of Charles Leclerc and Valtteri Bottas, but that doesn't mean that the team doesn't owe the points to itself. "The pace was there, the strategy was there - a well executed plan," Stroll told Motorsport.com. "We had a difficult start to the season and struggled with the rule change. Mercedes and we lost almost a second on our competitors."
Aston Martin has been trying to find its way back up in recent weeks. "We're not giving up. We keep putting parts on the car and trying to get back to where we need to be. I don't think we can match last year's performance, because then we have to let go and obviously focus on the 2022 single-seater. We will fight until the end."

Constructors' championship

The team is currently fifth in the constructors' championship. While Aston Martin has scored 19 points in the first five races, number four Ferrari is already on 78 points. As a result fifth place still appears to be the best that can be achieved.
