Alpine ended the first half of the season in a fantastic way. They won the Hungarian Grand Prix with Esteban Ocon and profited from the mistakes of others. It was also almost third place for Fernando Alonso but he had to make do with a fourth place.
It is, according to director Marcin Budkowski MotorsportTotal.com the start of something beautiful for the French racing team. Yet Budkowski also knows that the victory came about thanks to a concurrence of circumstances.
"We are aware that we won not because we beat everyone and the faster cars around us, but because we were a bit lucky with the circumstances."
Nevertheless, the confidence for next year is there.
"We are working hard for next year, because now we have a taste. Last year's podiums, victory this year; we want more, but we know we have to be better to achieve more regularly. We need to be a better team, we need to design and build a better car."

Real pace Alpine not reflected on track

Because while it seems to look good on the track, the pace doesn't neccersarily show on the track and Budkowski is disappointed about that.
"It's disappointing that the team is doing much better this season, you can see that in the factories, but it's not reflected in lap times. I hope that will be the case next year and I am confident that it will." Be that way, because we want more. We want a lot more."
To have a great run-up to 2022, Alpine will want to have a great second half of the season and then finish with fifth in the Constructors' Championship.
