Originally Fernando Alonso was supposed to make a third attempt to win the Indianapolis 500 on May 24th, literally crowning him by becoming the first driver after Graham Hill to complete the 'Triple Crown'. Virtually he already managed it this weekend.
On Saturday evening Alonso participated in the Legends Trophy from The Race, which for the occasion drove modern IndyCar cars on a virtual Indianapolis. The Spaniard showed that he now feels completely at home on the oval and won both races, leaving not only old Formula 1 drivers, but also some IndyCar legends behind him.
In the first race he defeated former teammate Jenson Button in an exciting fight, which he immediately invited for the real thing. Due to a reversed starting position, he had to start the second race at the back, fought his way forward and won again, this time just ahead of Tiago Monteiro.
