Fernando Alonso claims he isn’t expecting a “radical change” in Baku this weekend. McLaren is currently sitting in fourth place ahead of mid-field rivals as the Spaniard has scored points in every race this season.
Since changing from Honda to Renault, the team have experienced serious changes. But ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Alonso flashes back to last season where McLaren scored their first points.
“Last year’s race in Baku was certainly a memorable one for us,” said the two time World Champion.
“It was a crazy Grand Prix, and we scored our first points of the season there, so we’ll naturally be looking to repeat that this weekend.
“We know our limitations and where we need to improve our package - (but) we aren’t anticipating a radical change in our performance in Baku.”

Alonso went on to confirm McLaren are preparing for further car developments later in the season. He explained how the team are continuing to learn from the car.
“We’re learning more - about the behaviour of our car each time we step into the cockpit.
“And in Azerbaijan, we’ll be maximising everything we have as usual to score as many points as possible.”
