One final race, one last hurrah, until Fernando Alonso bows out of Formula One. And what a sad way it will be for him to bow out, in a dog of a McLaren car, probably struggling to escape the clutches of Q1.
However, despite being unable to record a positive result, one of Alonso’s rivals believes he is still one of the best around.
Force India driver Sergio Perez, who has only recently overtaken Alonso in the standings says that F1 is “sick” after the confirmed departure of Alonso.
The Mexican said: “It shows how sick F1 is.
“We have one of the best drivers in the world, he loves racing to the last fibre in his body, and he tortures himself in the midfield weekend after weekend.

“If we put him in another car, he would fight for victory and be world champion again. That’s our Formula One and we lose him. And we are all in this boat.”
