For all teams in Formula 1, it is an ideal picture: bringing updates every race and getting better every time. At Alfa Romeo, which is leaving as Sauber's name sponsor after this season, the first three Grands Prix of the season went in the opposite direction. Since Bahrain, it became less and less in terms of pace, especially with Valtteri Bottas.
So, after a break of just under a month, Alfa Romeo knows where the priority lies: stopping an impending retreat towards the rear. "We have looked into the last
few races, and we have been working really hard to get back to the level we showed in Bahrain," Bottas responded via his team. "I am confident we have what it takes to improve: if we all do our homework, we can be in the mix for another points finish.”

Performance analysis

Alessandro Alunni Bravi, Alfa Romeo team principal, is also confident of a good result in Baku. "It’s been an intense start of the season, in which we scored in two out of three races, and it’s been good for the team to have some time to analyse our performances and see in which areas we can make improvements."
According to the Italian, although steps have been made compared to last season, including in terms of reliability. "But we know we need to keep working hard to be competitive in such a tight field."
