The Hungarian Grand Prix marked the final race before the summer break. The season resumes on August 31 with the Dutch Grand Prix, the fifteenth race, taking place at the Zandvoort circuit. Alex Albon made a striking comparison about Zandvoort.
Alex Albon was asked in Hungary about his opinion on Zandvoort and was clear:
''I love Zandvoort,'' he told Viaplay.
''It's one of those circuits we go to where an F1 car shouldn't be driving around but the fact that they allow it is great.'' 'It's a bit like driving in a supermarket'
The
Williams driver then drew a bizarre comparison:
''I feel like it's a bit like driving a car in a supermarket, like just no space.''Albon explained what makes the Dutch circuit so unique: ''You can drive very quickly through there. It's so narrow but at the same time I think it makes it an amazing driver circuit. The weather is always interesting, the wind is good for kite surfing, less fun in a race car but it makes it challenging.''
Does Albon stand a chance at Zandvoort with his Williams? ''Actually, for some reason, we tend to like the track which makes no sense but we take it.''
This year will see the penultimate edition of the Grand Prix of the Netherlands. Albon was not aware: ''Is it staying on the calendar?''
When told that 2026 will be the last year to race at Zandvoort, he reacted astonished: ''Forever and ever?''
