Alexander Albon was able to rejoice with a victory in the DTM championship for the first time on Sunday. The win came at exactly the right time for the driver, as it gives him confidence for the period ahead.
Teammate Liam Lawson has performed better all year, although Albon sees it differently. "I don't think I was overshadowed," he said in an interview with Motorsport.com. "It's quite normal that you need some time to get used to a car. The step from Formula 1 to a GT3 is quite a big one. And I've had some races where I was pretty strong."
Albon stressed that he needed to get his level up especially in other areas. "I was just struggling a bit in qualifying. This weekend and the previous round in Zolder, that went positively and we are making progress. It's not like we're nowhere to be found in the championship."

Albon's chances at Red Bull

The driver still secretly hopes that he will get another chance in Formula 1 in the coming years. The driver was given the chance alongside Max Verstappen by Red Bull Racing once, but could not convince enough to keep his place. Since this season Sergio Pérez is in his position.
