Sainz trades Norris for Leclerc: 'Relationship is fantastic'

Carlos Sainz had a great teammate in Lando Norris, but the new Ferrari driver also had a great time with Charles Leclerc. The 27-year old driver gets on well with the Monegasque off track.

"The relationship between Leclerc and me? Fantastic, I couldn't ask for better," Sainz told Esquire in an interview. As teammates, it's not only important to work well together to achieve an optimal set-up of the SF21, according to Sainz a good relationship off the track is also of great importance.

Getting on well with each other

The F1 drivers will travel to no less than 22 Grands Prix this season and that means they see each other more than their own families."Since we spend a lot of time together, it's important that we get along personally, and we certainly do, we do a lot of things together: we play chess, padel, golf."

Leclerc is currently sixth in the world championship with 128 points. Sainz, in his first year in Italian service, follows closely behind from seventh place with just 5.5 points. Internally, the Spaniard has impressed, as after leaving McLaren he was already fast and competitive.
