Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have been keeping each other in balance all season. Both drivers differ just six points from each other in the world championship, so according to Toto Wolff details will make the difference.

Whereas Verstappen put a new engine in his car in Russia, Hamilton picked up a grid penalty in Turkey. It ensured that we hardly saw the competitors competing with each other in recent weeks. Red Bull Racing and Mercedes cannot afford to drop out of the race and let their rivals take the points.

Mercedes expecting tough races

Wolff, therefore, expects a blistering championship battle. "The whole season it's been going back and forth," the Mercedes team boss told Motorsport.com. "We make mistakes together, we win together. In the past, we have seen bigger swings with lost opportunities."

"In the end, we lost eight points to Red Bull in Turkey because of a grid penalty. Red Bull was happy in Russia that they only lost seven points. It's going to be very tight until the end. Breakdowns are going to make a big difference and that was also a consideration to take a grid penalty, not swings of three, four or five points."
