Max Verstappen did some excellent business during the Turkish Grand Prix. On Friday and Saturday it looked like Mercedes would win the race, but the Dutchman managed to keep his rival Lewis Hamilton behind in the race. The Dutch press was impressed by the performance of Red Bull Racing.

Algemeen Dagblad

The Algemeen Dagblad saw relief in Verstappen. "What seemed to be a tough weekend for Verstappen has turned out to be a very nice one after all. At Istanbul Park, the Dutchman had no choice but to finish second. Valtteri Bottas was too fast in his Mercedes on a continuously wet track. But Hamilton had to make do with fifth place after a late and illogical tyre change."

The Telegraph

According to De Tele graaf, the championship is far from decided. "Verstappen won an important battle with Hamilton in Turkey and recaptured the lead in the World Cup standings, but the duel between the two top drivers is far from settled. That much became clear in Istanbul."

The Volkskrant

De Volkskrant saw a big difference between Hamilton and Verstappen in Turkey. "Grumbling and disagreement versus serene calm. If the Grand Prix of Turkey was a harbinger for the end of the title fight between Verstappen and Hamilton, then Verstappen has little to worry."

Het Parool

Het Par ool puts the basis of Red Bull's success at Hamilton's grid penalty. "The British defending champion of Mercedes was the fastest in qualifying on Saturday, but had to start from eleventh place due to a grid penalty. Verstappen was on the front starting row next to Bottas."

NRC

The relief of Verstappen was also noticed by the NRC . "For Verstappen, the result in Turkey, after a race under difficult conditions, was a huge windfall. In the run-up, he had complained about a car that was not fast enough compared to his Mercedes rivals."
