The battle between Red Bull Racing and Mercedes is still in full swing. The gap between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton is only three points and in the Constructors' Championship the teams are also still very close.

Mercedes has said for some time now that they will not be developing their car further this year. Instead, the team is focusing on the 2022 car, when the new regulations take effect.

Red Bull Racing did introduce several updates so far in the season, and with these they wanted to focus on the title fight. For the Monza race, the teams usually bring extremely narrow wings. Christian Horner tells the Dutch side of Motorsport.com that they haven't prepared anything special for the next two races.

"There is obviously going to be a huge amount of work in 2022. Of course there will be Monza wings, but that's about it. We are approaching the end of the life cycle of this car, but if you can still make small steps somewhere you will of course go for it", Horner explained.

Battle will remain exciting

The battle between the two teams remains exciting and with both teams shifting their attention to next year, Horner believes that tension will only continue. "It's extremely close. In qualifying [at Zandvoort] the difference was less than a tenth and in the race we seemed to have one, maybe two tenths advantage."
