During the Belgian Grand Prix, only half points were handed out due to the minimum distance of the race not being covered. Sebastian Vettel finished fifth and also earned five points with this.

"But those points are a bit of a joke," Vettel told reporters after the race, quoted by The Telegraph. "What did we do today? For me it doesn't feel like a reward for my qualifying either, then they should give points for that. By the way, I thought we had to do 25 percent of the race distance for half points. That just goes to show how old I am."

The rules are indeed different, more than two laps have to be driven to be able to hand out half points. This was the case on Sunday night, although the race was immediately halted after these two laps. "It's probably not a popular decision, but the right one given the circumstances," Vettel stated.

Race more dangerous than qualifying

"During qualifying, there was more water on the track, but during the race you drive shorter laps. You can't get rid of that spray. It was very difficult to see the driver in front of you, because you could only see the light at his back very late. For the people in the stands this is obviously a huge disappointment, but safety comes first. When we came out the second time, the situation wasn't much better," said the Aston-Martin driver.
