The Formula 1 season resumes this weekend after the annual three-week summer break. The exciting battle between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton will start again on the beautiful track of Spa-Francorchamps. A track where Verstappen can always count on a lot of support from Dutch fans thanks to its location.

Orange wall

In the F1 Nation Podcast Tom Clarkson and Damon Hill recall footage from previous editions at the Belgian circuit, when the Dutchman also received a lot of support from large groups of fans, many of whom were dressed in orange.

Tom Clarkson says: "Max will be cheered on by the thousands of Dutch fans. It will be an orange wall to Les Combes. It has been that way since Max has been in F1." For that matter, father Jos could always count on a lot of fans at Spa as well, although the numbers from back then are of course not at all comparable anymore. Since Verstappen junior drove in F1 the sport has exploded in the Netherlands.

Cheers

Hill agrees: "We just have to hope we don't see a repeat of the boos that Lewis got because of the massive support Max is getting everywhere. Jan Lammers has appealed to the public and supporters in the Netherlands to give Lewis a good welcome."
