Estaban Ocon surprised the Formula 1 world on Sunday afternoon by taking his first victory. The Frenchman won the race easily thanks to the cancellation of the top teams and was therefore very satisfied afterwards.

The driver noticed during the race that the pressure is different when you are driving upfront. "You need to do the same job you usually do," he told the BBC. "But of course we were in the lead of the race so it's a big difference. You can't really be chilled, but you need to try. There were big consequences if I lost the place to Sebastian Vettel who was in second. It's a lot of pressure, but we handled that really well."

Ocon also owed his victory to Fernando Alonso who managed to keep Lewis Hamilton behind him for a long time. "He fought like a lion, elbows out. He contributed massively to that race win. He was probably more happy than I was, he was jumping all around like, a crazy kid. He's such a legend. It's a privilege to be his teammate and to be working with him."

Ocon in eleventh place in world championship

The victory meant Ocon picked up 25 points, which puts him in eleventh place in the world championship. His compatriot Pierre Gasly is still above him with nine points more.
