Wolff explains partying Hamilton: "The incident was not bothering him"

While Lewis Hamilton was being very happy with his eighth victory at his home circuit of Silverstone, Max Verstappen posted on social media. Hamilton and his rival Max Verstappen crashed. Toto Wolff gives his latest thoughts on the story which continues to rumble on.

Toto Wolff, however, states at Autosport.com that his star driver is not a "dirty driver" at all. Indeed, according to the Mercedes team boss, just the opposite is the case. "Everyone has an opinion, that's okay. Everyone will have a certain bias towards incidents like that. When you hear the comments about his driving and the incident, Lewis is the opposite of someone who has ever driven dirty."

According to Wolff, there was therefore absolutely no reason not to join in the celebrations after Verstappen's crash. "I think Lewis is a sportsman. We haven't seen any major incidents with him. And that's why he keeps his attitude. And you saw it, the incident wasn't particularly bothering him."

Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner obviously disagrees with his arch nemesis: "For a world champion with seven titles, that was an amateur's mistake and a desperate mistake, and you know we were just very lucky that no one was seriously injured."
