How will Perez help teammate Verstappen? "So many things can happen".

Sergio Perez looked set for a place on the front row of the grid, but in the end both Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas went under the Mexican's time in qualifying for the French Grand Prix. He is reasonably satisfied and looking forward to Sunday's race.

"The pace should be good, so I'm looking forward to a solid afternoon. I want to score as many points for the team as possible," Perez told Sky Sports. If all goes well, Max Verstappen's teammate can start to put the pressure on Mercedes. In Barcelona, for example, a circuit with similar characteristics to Paul Ricard, he was unable to do so because he was further back.

Perez is known for his tyre management. When asked if he will continue for an extremely long time on the mediums, he replied: "So many things can happen. It's especially important to stay in the mix from lap one and get a jump from the start."

The French Grand Prix starts at 15:00 on Sunday. Verstappen will then try to further extend his World Cup lead over Lewis Hamilton. Hopefully, Perez will play a part in it!
