The Monaco Grand Prix was won by Max Verstappen, but besides the Dutchman, there were other drivers who performed really well on the street circuit. However, as usual, there were also some drivers who underperformed. These are GPblog's ratings for the drivers.

Verstappen: 10

Max Verstappen drove a strong weekend. On Thursday things didn't work out the way he wanted, but on Saturday things were much better. We'll never know if he would have taken pole, but he started from first place and drove seemingly easy to victory.

Sainz: 8.5

Carlos Sainz was furious after qualifying, but did he have a right to speak? You know things can go wrong with a red flag, so every lap counts, especially in Monaco. On Sunday Sainz drove a strong race, but was still a bit disappointed. Remarkable, after his first podium for Ferrari.

Norris: 10

Lando Norris is shining at McLaren. Another podium for the young Briton, who managed to lap Daniel Ricciardo to make matters worse for the Australian. Norris is in the form of his life.

Perez: 7

Sergio Perez had far from an ideal weekend, with his bodyguard shot in a possible attempt to steal his car in Mexico. Perez didn't perform on Saturday, but on Sunday he did exactly what the team needed him to do. The Mexican needs to start putting it all together for the whole weekend.

Vettel: 10

Sebastian Vettel once again showed some of the old Vettel. The German grabbed a handsome P5 and briefly showed in Massenet that he still has the guts in his car.

Gasly: 10

Pierre Gasly had to let Vettel go in Massenet, but the fact that he made no mistake under pressure from Lewis Hamilton shows the development the Frenchman is making. He's finally getting the most out of the AlphaTauri this year, and a lot of points are following too.

Hamilton: 5

Lewis Hamilton did not give home this weekend. He lost the internal duel to Valtteri Bottas on Saturday and had no idea how he could be so slow. Even after the race, his finger was pointed at the team. Not really the way you should be doing it, if you yourself are slower than your teammate maybe you should also look in the mirror.

Stroll: 6

Despite a number of collisions with the kerbs, Lance Stroll managed to drive to a neat eighth place. He didn't get anywhere near Seb this weekend but made the most of the difficult situation on Sunday.

Ocon: 8

Esteban Ocon is the Alpine front-runner at the moment and he's scoring points again. The Frenchman is doing what his teammate with two world titles in his pocket has yet to do, and that is perform consistently every weekend.

Giovinazzi: 8

Antonio Giovinazzi is increasingly emerging as the Alfa Romeo leader. As well as on Saturday, he is now increasingly managing to finish ahead of Kimi Raikkonen on Sunday. The first point for the team in 2021 came from him, in Monaco.

Raikkonen: 7

Kimi Raikkonen didn't do much worse with an eleventh place finish, but so had to watch his Italian teammate celebrate.

Ricciardo: 3

Daniel Ricciardo seems to need a bit more adjustment time than he might have expected. While at Renault he managed to get rid of Nico Hulkenberg and Ocon, in his beloved Monaco he was lapped by his teammate. Will the Australian be able to top this?

Alonso: 4

Fernando Alonso is still struggling a lot with his car, and Monaco is not the place to be struggling. The Spaniard also needs a lot of time to get used to his car.

Russell: 7

George Russell was fairly invisible this weekend, apart from his great performance to reach Q2 for the umpteenth time with his Williams, and in the race we barely saw him.

Latifi: 6

No big mistakes for Nicholas Latifi on Saturday and Sunday, after already putting his car in the wall once in practice.

Tsunoda: 5

Yuki Tsunoda came to Monaco for the first time, and it showed. The Japanese driver fell well short of his teammate. When will we see the Yuki from Bahrain again?

Mazepin: 7

Nikita Mazepin drove his best weekend so far, and that of course in Monaco. Who would have thought?

Schumacher: 5

Mick Schumacher had a messy weekend in Monaco and eventually finished last. A learning weekend for the young German.

Bottas: 9

Valtteri Bottas finally had another strong weekend. He had a good qualifying, was much stronger than Lewis Hamilton and kept the faster Carlos Sainz behind in the race. However, a Mercedes blunder in the pit stop put an end to his race. His retirement was through no fault of his own.

Leclerc: 6

Charles Leclerc had bad luck in the first free practice session, but it wasn't bad luck that meant he couldn't start the Monaco Grand Prix. The Monegasque had the fastest time in Q3, but took too much risk in his second run and wrecked his car. A shame, because this really could have been a victory.
