Formula 1 is slowly preparing for its second race weekend in 2021. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia organisers are working hard on the track on which the drivers will be able to race on in early December. Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al Faisal, chairman of the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (SAMF), expects a spectacle.

The street circuit includes 27 corners and will be located along the Red Sea. The construction of the circuit started this week, giving the country more than half a year to prepare for the reception of Formula 1. "We are preparing ourselves to host the most thrilling and exciting race ever", Prince Khalid stated in conversation with Arab News. “The Jeddah circuit will be amazing. It’s the fastest street circuit, and it’s the longest street circuit.”

Prince Khalid stresses that he is still very happy that Formula 1 is coming to the country. “It means a lot. We know Formula 1 is the pinnacle of motorsports, it’s the biggest event that Saudi Arabia will host. It’s very important for the Kingdom, for our youth, for the sport, for the economy, and for tourism.”

Location on the Red Sea

The location of the race track can be called a special one. “How many Formula 1 race tracks are on the side of the sea? It’s a fantastic location, the community of Jeddah is going to experience something completely different. This will be a real differentiator for F1 racing as well. It’s a great new home for F1.”
