Mick Schumacher made his F1 debut for Haas in Abu Dhabi. The German drove the first free practice session. According to team boss Guenther Steiner, Schumacher made a big impression with the American team after his first laps with the team.

"He did a fantastic job. I didn't see it as a test session either, because you can't see much of a driver's potential. What you do see is someone's personality," Steiner explains at Motorsport.com. "How someone prepares to work and what he takes with him. Because, especially for the young drivers, there is a lot to take with you when you drive for the first time in F1 and then your surname is Schumacher".

Schumacher did a lot of good

Steiner knows that a lot of people were watching the German and he is impressed with how he stood up. "There are a lot of people watching you and when you are 21 you have to have a lot of confidence to do all this. He did a good job all weekend. He worked extremely well with the engineers. I also looked at more than just his performance.

That's why Steiner sees great talent in Schumacher. "It was really good how he dealt with the engineers. His remarks were extremely clear. Also his speed in the car, we didn't put any pressure on him, but it was very good. I told him that the most important thing was not to make mistakes and he didn't do that. He knew exactly where he was wasting time and he did it well," Steiner concluded.
