With the confirmation of Mick Schumacher as a Formula 1 driver in 2021, Haas' line-up for next year is final. The eyes are naturally on his ability, although the first year will undoubtedly be dominated by personal development. Nevertheless, the young Schumacher will receive help from all corners, including Sebastian Vettel.

Special connection with his father

At the press conference prior to the Sakhir Grand Prix, Vettel pledged his willingness to help Mick Schumacher. He is "happy to help where I can," Vettel says. "Mick is a great guy and obviously I have a very special connection to his father."

"It’s a shame that Michael is not able to witness Mick’s progression in the last years and his step now into Formula 1," Vettel refers to the current condition of Schumacher senior who hasn't been seen in public since his skiing accident in December 2013.

Providing help

But Vettel hopes that he can offer the same help to Mick, as he received support from Michael Schumacher when he was young. "From my side I really like him, we get along well and I’m happy to tell him everything that I know."

"The way I look at him is I see him as a person where I can help him in his life or on track with some of the things that I went through in my career. I think it’s very important for him to find his own path and follow his own way. But surely as much as it helped when Michael had some things to say when I asked and he gave me advice, I’m trying to do the same," said Vettel, who will be on the grid next year in Aston Martin colours.
