"He wants to know what Wolff is going to do"

Lewis Hamilton created quite the stir when he said he doesn't know if he'll be in F1 next season. Louis Dekker and Jan Lammers have been explaining what is going on at Mercedes and the former believes that Hamilton is waiting to see what Toto Wolff will do.

Reorganization at Mercedes

In the NOS Formula 1 podcast the pair discussed the current situation, with Wolff's position a hot topic. 

Dekker: "There is a major reorganization going on behind the scenes at Mercedes. We don't know much, but what I do know is that Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton have been building this together for seven years and they really want to continue together."

He continued: "One of them is going to say 'it's getting too heavy, I've seen it, I'm going to take another role'. At the moment it is unclear what Wolff is going to do next year and one of the reasons that Hamilton hasn't signed yet is because he wants to know what Wolff is going to do."

Higher demand

Lammers agrees with this, and he goes on to say: "I also think that Hamilton's demand, which will, of course, be quite separate. He is now almost ready to match the record, but his next task will be to break an all-time record."

Hamilton will not leave Formula 1 in any case, Lammers added: "He is certainly not ready to leave. If Hamilton has the idea of ​​now if you want me to break that record, then I can only do that. That's why he's going to raise the rate a little."
