Lance Stroll caused the second red flag during the Tuscan Grand Prix after crashed hard in the fastest part of the track. The Canadian was unharmed, but his car was severly damaged. Due to the fire extinguishers, many parts broke after the crash. That means bad news, since Stroll was the only Racing Point driver with new updates this weekend.

According to Otmar Szafnauer, team boss at Racing Point, it will be a challenge to have the cars ready for Russia, the race scheduled in a week and a half from now. "We still have a lot of work to do to make sure both cars have enough parts to take the updates to Russia," he explains to Sky Sports.

Still unclear what the advantage is

Racing Point looked very strong in Mugello and with both cars at the forefront a podium seemed possible as well. According to Szafnauer it is important for the team to take Mugello's positive points to the circuits and Grands Prix that will follow. "We do not yet know exactly how big the difference is with the updates.

"However, they were meant to be a few tenths and that is exactly what was the difference now", Szafnauer explains that the updates are working. However, they would have had to work at Silverstone to get both cars ready for Sochi again, as the damage to Stroll's car is extensive.
