Hamilton: "Amusing to see Red Bull claiming the ban on party mode"
- GPblog.com
Red Bull Racing has long been in favour of banning qualifying mode. The team itself has one, but it is not as strong as that of Mercedes. In recent years, the German team has managed to grab pole position several times by screwing up the engine. Lewis Hamilton finds it interesting to see how much Red Bull was pushing for a ban.
"I find it kind of amusing. The FIA has indicated that the ban is in place to see the use of the engine and Red Bull says that they have pushed very hard for a ban. There are completely different reasons why they did it", explains Hamilton to RaceFans.Net.
Compliment for the team
The Brit indicates that the ban is a compliment to Mercedes employees. "I hope the people at the factory see it as a compliment because they have done a fantastic job on the engine. We will continue to work on the engine in the current conditions".
According to Hamilton, the ban will have less impact on the speed of the car. "I personally like to be in control of when I save a little more and when I ask a little more of my engine. That was a strong point of mine, because it allowed me to make the engine last longer. They take that away now, but it makes me less worried about changing engine settings", concludes Hamilton.
