Valtteri Bottas made a remarkable radio message during the Grand Prix of Spain with. The Fin was complained that it was hot in the car and according to him it was because of the color of his racing suit. Bottas was used to driving with white overalls in previous years, but due to the open support of Mercedes for the Black Lives Matter movement they have been blackened for this season.

Bottas quickly added after the race that he is one of the fittest, if not all fittest drivers on the grid, but the heat in the new overalls was pretty uncomfortable. So much so that he thinks it could affect his performance.

Black colour doesn't compomise performance

Team boss Toto Wolff says his driver is making an error of judgement. "We're just using new materials," says the Austrian according to Motorsport-Total.com. "Maybe we should look at them again and find a compromise that will allow us to make them [the suits] a little thinner."

From the first moment that Mercedes drives the black car and overalls, there has been speculation about the impact on performance, but the team has not yet been able to find it. "The message is very important, but if it compromises our performance, it's obviously not good," Wolff says.
