Williams 'shocked' that Mercedes is trying to bring RoKit in as sponsor

Williams announced during the corona crisis that it was giving up its main sponsor RoKit and that it is looking for a new investor. However, RoKit does not disappear from Formula 1, because once again Williams seems to lose a sponsor to another F1 team.

Williams robbed on all sides

It's not the first sponsor Williams loses. In the past seasons Williams already lost several sponsors, who then switched to another Formula 1 team. For example, McLaren already took Unilever from Williams in 2019. That seems to happen again with RoKit.

Although Williams himself indicated that it gave up RoKit and now wants to look for a new investor or even a new owner of the team, it seems that RoKit doesn't want to disappear from Formula 1. According to sources of Racefans.net, RoKit is making the switch to Mercedes.

Mercedes takes the sponsor

RoKit should be seen on the Mercedes car from the Austrian Grand Prix onwards. Sources inside Williams said they were shocked by Racefans.net. ''We are absolutely shocked that a team with whom we have worked so well for a long time, would make an agreement with a sponsor who knows what happened''.

Whether RoKit will actually be seen on the Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton is for now still the question. Williams is said to want to take action against RoKit, which has terminated the contract itself. That would still be worth about 25 million dollars a year, with a contract that would continue until 2023.
