Claire Williams sees team as Red Bull Racing and Ferrari working closely with AlphaTauri and Haas F1 respectively. Williams' team boss said earlier that it's time to draw a line when it comes to collaborations, but also states that Williams should put his hand in his own bosom if he doesn't succeed in making steps as an independent race stable.

"If we're doing it wrong, it's our fault. And if we do it right, we can get the credit for it. That's very important for who we are," Williams starts telling Motorsport.com. Between 2014 and 2017, the traditional racing team had some great successes in Formula 1. The team based in Grove has been retained here. "With our business model, we've been successful in the recent past."

Williams doesn't want to go after Racing Point. The team in the hands of Lawrence Stroll has made an exact copy of the Mercedes car that won the world championship last season for its 2020 car. "It's not that we're not doing well because we don't have a pink Mercedes. I have always been very clear about where Williams stands on being an independent constructor and how proud we are of that. We are in this sport based on what we do", is the 43 year old British firm.

Racing Point responds

In a reaction to this, Racing Point announces on behalf of Andrew Green. "That's their choice," reports the technical director. "They have a very different setup to us. We have a full production department within the team and I have no intention of changing that. They don't have that capacity and bandwidth, so this business model makes sense for them," concludes Green.
