"I don't know if he's trying to play so cool or if he's really that cold. Even the bell that I got a chance in Formula 1 went that way. He calls you asking how you are doing and then out of nowhere he says: Oh, by the way, this is going to happen," Albon said to Beyond the Grid.
"The conversation about switching to Red Bull was again a one-minute conversation. He doesn't tell you why and maybe I don't need to know that either, but you just have to deal with it."
A year ago Albon was coming to the end of his Formula 2 career and looked set to be racing in Formula E for the 2019 season. However, Marko called and signed him up for Toro Rosso and a few months later he was called up to Red Bull.
"The switch was really a surprise," Albon said. "Just like everyone else, I didn't see it coming either. We've been on the line for half an hour just to discuss my progress and I thought it was. Then I was in Austria, I have to come to him and he tells me that I have the seat."
Albon will hope to keep impressing and hold onto his Red Bull seat for 2020 and avoid and Marko phone calls for the time being!
