What can we learn from Friday at the Italian Grand Prix?

Friday's practise sessions give teams and drivers the first opportunity to test their cars and setups at the Grand Prix circuit. Charles Leclerc topped the timesheet in both FP1 and FP2 at the Italian Grand Prix and will be hoping to back up last weeks race win with a similar performance this Sunday.

Due to the wet conditions, it was hard for teams to get accurate and relevant data but the facts are that the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc has shown that he is on the pace.

Mercedes were not far of in FP2 and Sebastian Vettel is also in the mix. The fact that Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris finished 2nd and 3rd shows how unpredictable results can be in wet conditions.

The damp conditions in FP1 have shown us that if it is wet during the race, drivers are going to make mistakes. There were three Red Flags in FP1 and multiple spins all due to driver error.

When the cars are being pushed to the limit surely these mistakes will happen more?

Tomorrow's sessions are due to be dry and will, therefore, provide a better opportunity for us to see who will perform well on Sunday.
