Pierre Gasly is hoping to push on after the opening two sessions of the French Grand Prix weekend but admitted it is hard to say where he stands with the new Honda engine.

During the opening session of the day, Gasly came home in sixth after 20 laps, putting in a time of 1:34.091. He followed it up with a lap of 1:32.448 which placed him down in eighth after a longer spell of 29 laps. Gasly finished behind both McLaren drivers at the end of FP2

Despite being further down the leaderboard than he would've liked, he was satisfied with his day's work and the testing the team had done on new parts.

“Today was good. We tested a lot of new parts on the car and now I need to sit down and analyse with the guys what worked and what didn’t," said Gasly.

Honda provided Red Bull with an upgrade for the French Grand Prix and the Frenchman kept his cards close to his chest regarding how his engine felt around his home circuit.

"Regarding the new Honda engine, it’s difficult to say much as I’ve just come out of the car but we will look at everything tonight and push it more tomorrow.

"The general feeling was good, the reliability was completely fine and in terms of performance, we need to see if it’s delivering what we expected," he added.
