McLaren driver Lando Norris is excited for his first ever race at the Canadian Grand Prix that gets underway on Sunday evening (UK time).

Norris finished in second-place in the Formula 2 championship last season and earned a promotion at McLaren, where he has more than impressed in his opening six races at the side.

Friday (free practice sessions) will be the first time Norris has ever been around the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in an actual car, despite having much experience via the simulator.

However, the challenge is something that Norris looks to take in his stride, and will be determined to continue with McLaren's impressive start to the 2019 season.

"I'm very excited to head to Canada and Montreal," the British youngster explained in McLaren's Canadian Grand Prix preview. "It will be my first time there and the track is one I've always liked driving on the sim. It definitely looks like you can overtake and have a bit more fun there."

Norris revealed that his focus this weekend is on gaining valuable experience on the circuit, as well as putting himself in a position that benefits both him and his side.

"My focus, as always, is on making sure I'm in a position to take any chances I can for both myself and the team and gaining as much experience of a new track as possible," Norris concluded.
