Pierre Gasly has insisted he will change his own driving style after a tricky start to life at Red Bull Racing in 2019.

The Frenchman was promoted from sister-team Toro Rosso at the start of this season, and recorded his first points finish in Bahrain last time out. Gasly broke into Q3 for the first time in a Red Bull on Saturday, and managed to finish sixth on the grid.

He was a place behind his team-mate Max Verstappen at the Shanghai International Circuit, but he has accepted he has to alter a few things in order to show his full potential.

"I think that was the best I could expect," Gasly said to Sky Sports F1 following a dramatic Q3 session. "It was still a tricky weekend, so I think we can be happy with the position but I'm not satisfied with my driving. I'm still struggling with the car so there is still some work to do."

Asked whether there was a certain aspect that he was struggling with specifically, Gasly answered: "Basically with all the traction on the exits, I struggle to put the power down and fight a lot with the car.

"I know the things I need to work on, and I probably need to change a bit my driving style and with the team working together to find the right direction to make it a bit more suitable for myself."
