Charles Leclerc produced a solid run to top the morning session on day 2 of pre-season testing in Barcelona.

The new Ferrari driver recorded a fastest time of 1:18:247, only a tenth slower than team mate Sebastian Vettel’s best time yesterday.

Kevin Magnussen failed to complete many laps in the first half of the session, but his fortunes improved in the second half and he posted the second fastest time, just under a second slower than Leclerc.

Antonio Giovinazzi impressed for Alfa Romeo, setting the third fastest time, albeit over a second behind Leclerc.

The impressive Lando Norris was in fourth, setting his time on the slower, harder C2 tyres, followed by Pierre Gasly.

Ricciardo and Lewis Hamilton also broke into the 1:19s.

Ricciardo had a moment on the run into the first corner when his rear wing flew off his Renault, sending him into a spin, just avoiding the walls at turn one, but it was soon fixed and he was able to get back out onto the track.

Mercedes again seemed to hide their pace, not unleashing Hamilton to full speed just yet, as he set a time 1.7 seconds away from Leclerc’s.

Alex Albon had a nightmare start to the session, when he spun just four corners into his first run, bringing out the red flag.

He was able to go back out though, and completed some good running to finish ahead of Lance Stroll, who was the slowest of the drivers on track.

Williams were once again absent from testing, but hopefully we can see them out on the Circuit de Catalunya soon.
