Lando Norris will not have
Max Verstappen breathing down his neck at the start of the
Italian Grand Prix as there is distance between the two drivers who sit at the top of the World Championship. Still Norris will have to contend with his teammate
Oscar Piastri off the start line, and
George Russell from third.
There are no overnight changes for the drivers on the grid. Everyone has managed to avoid picking up a penalty, so the starting grid is exactly the same as the order finished in qualifying. Norris secured pole position, and will be on the front row with his
McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri.
George Russell will line up in third place alongside the first
Ferrari car at their home race.
Charles Leclerc is the lead Ferrari driver and will have the support of his teammate
Carlos Sainz in fifth. This is slightly different from last year, as the Spaniard started from pole in Monza.
Lewis Hamilton was furious with himself, but still gets a place inside the top six on the grid ahead of
Max Verstappen (7th) and
Sergio Perez (8th). Perez almost ended up beating his teammate in qualifying as Red Bull are plagued with performance and balance problems.
There's a place in the top ten on the grid for Alex Albon and
Nico Hulkenberg. Albon's teammate
Franco Colapinto will start his first Grand Prix from 18th on the grid.
