F1 Today | Audi receive HEAT as Norris gets a brutal assessment

F1 News

Audi are still around 18 months away from turning a wheel in Formula 1, yet have picked up plenty of criticism during the 2024 summer break. First, Eddie Jordan laid into the team and then Johnny Herbert also questioned their moves. Meanwhile, Lando Norris received a brutal telling-off.

Audi comes under fire

Eddie Jordan believes Audi are making 'fundamental mistakes' in their project as they work towards getting started in Formula 1 in the 2026 season. They will take over Sauber (Stake F1), and their arrival is highly anticipated.

Jordan finds it very hard to understand why Audi is not running the team in England, and he explains how tough it will be to take over a team that has currently scored zero points in the World Championship. Read his reasonings here

Herbert also questioned Audi.

Are Audi speeding things up?

In any case, these will be exciting weeks for Audi: with Binotto and soon Wheatley, will it still succeed in attracting a strong second driver? And can at least something of the sporting malaise be brought to a halt? Either way, things are going to be tight because a lot of time has already been lost before Audi can really take a serious step with the F1 project now. We assess their progress here.

Norris gets told off

For the first time in his (relatively short) Formula 1 career, Lando Norris is in a car capable of winning races at most Grand Prix weekends. This can only mean one thing: a Championship fight is potentially on the cards. But mistakes at key times have proven costly in the first half of the season, leaving plenty within Formula 1 doubting whether he's ready.

Peter Windsor is one of those. Windsor gave some brutal advice to Norris, and suggested the Brit should cut off from the social media world. He advised him to get tougher in his battle with Piastri. He even suggested he should move out of Monaco. See Windsor's slam here.
