Zak Brown has put his faith in youngster Lando Norris ahead of the 2019 season, Norris’s first in Formula 1.
The team finished sixth in the Constructors’ Championship but both Alonso and Vandoorne struggled for consistency in 2018 with several retirements and a highest finish of fifth for Alonso in Australia.
Speaking to Motorsport.com Brown spoke about Norris’s speed saying: "Lando has proven that he is extremely quick.
"Someone like Lando does not have the experience of Fernando, nor the type of feedback, and it will take some time for him to develop.” Admitted the McLaren boss.
McLaren have matched experience with youth in 2019 with Carlos Sainz entering his fifth season in the sport and Brown believes that will help the team’s development.
“[But] for Carlos it is his fifth year in the sport, so we are comfortable with our drivers.
“I think those drivers will get the most out of the car.”
