While for some drivers it is already clear where they will drive next year, this is not yet the case for Sergio Perez. The Mexican's contract expires after the current season and so there are still plenty of question marks surrounding the Red Bull driver's future. Perez himself said at the beginning of April that he thought he would have certainty within a month, but ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, he is taking this statement back.

Perez is currently still in talks with Red Bull Racing. The Mexican is said to have a multi-year deal in mind, while the Austrian team is unsure whether they should do so. This is due to changes to engine regulations in 2026.

Perez finds contract not a priority

Max Verstappen's teammate, therefore, says there is still nothing clear about his future: "Well, I think like everyone that hasn't signed, until you have that paper fully signed, everything remains an option. Right now, it's not really the main priority."

Perez continued: "Obviously the driver's market is making things happen earlier. With Lewis joining Ferrari early in the year, it means that everyone is looking for the best possible option they can get, but I believe it's just a matter of time. And obviously right now, the priority is on the season, it's on the races, it's preparing the races with the team, and the race will take care of itself."
