Perez: 'Was stuck behind slow cars'

Sergio Perez had a good race weekend in Japan. The Mexican fulfilled his duty by finishing second in both qualifying and the race, behind teammate Max Verstappen. The Mexican caused a stir during the race by overtaking both Mercedes drivers in the famous high-speed corner, 130R.
"Yes, it's good fun to go around there with two cars," Perez commented after the Japanese Grand Prix. The 34-year-old driver enjoyed his overtaking efforts at the Silver Arrows, but he stressed that passing them as quickly as possible was also necessary from a tactical perspective.
"Spending time behind one of the slower cars, given the degradation they [Merecedes] were having, it was quite penalising. So I was just going for it and it happened at 130R both times," Perez stated.
Perez foresees a positive race weekend in China
In a week and a half, the Grand Prix of China is scheduled. Although it has been four years since the last Chinese Grand Prix, Perez thinks Red Bull will be able to put in a good performance again. "It's a bit of a similar track with a lot of high speed, medium speed content. I think if we are able to be faster on this place, we can be faster in many other races. So it should be a good track for us as well," Perez concluded.
