Sebastian Vettel has 'several plans' regarding Formula 1 this year, he told German RTL. The four-time world champion did stress that nothing is certain yet, but that talks have definitely taken place.

A return of Vettel to motorsport has been the topic of conversation more than once in recent days. For instance, he tested the Porsche 963 LMDh, the hypercar with which the brand will use in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. There have also been talks between Vettel and Toto Wolff, although these were not very concrete.

A return to Formula 1 is mainly a family matter for Vettel: "Sometimes it's like a child saying: 'Dad, don't do that. Then you'll be gone for so long.' I really enjoyed the last year and a half with the kids and hopefully they enjoyed it too." Still, the German does not want to rule anything out: "Maybe I will think differently, but everything is going really well at the moment. And of course that's something big to deal with. Of course it plays in your head and you think about it. But I know from my time how I want to plan it all and know how much is involved. It's then about so much more than just those 24 races," Vettel said.

Unclear where, but return is welcome

But a return to F1 is not outruled, said Vettel, who has already held several talks. In what kind of role this would be is still unclear: "I still have plans, hopefully within Formula 1 and this year. It remains to be seen if that will happen. That's also a reason I spoke to Toto, among others. Of course we also talked about the situation at Mercedes, but not specifically about taking over the seat."
