Two weeks after his operation, Carlos Sainz managed to win the Australian Grand Prix. The Spaniard does not yet have a seat for the next F1 season. This victory puts himself on the radar of several team bosses, but Sainz is not doing it for that.

The Ferrari team seemed fast all weekend in Australia. In both free practice and qualifying, Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc were able to get very close to Max Verstappen 's times. The Dutchman's retirement at the start of the race allowed Sainz to clinch victory.

Sainz has no desire to prove himself

Despite Sainz being the only non-Red Bull driver to win a race last season and in the current one, the Spaniard is still without a seat for next year. He doubts this win will help him get a job. "For sure it has no harm that is 100% but I'm still without a job for next year so I guess this will help it."

The Spaniard stresses that his goal is not to prove himself to others. "I think everyone knows more or less what I'm capable of doing. I race for myself. I race for to keep proving to myself that I can win whenever I get a competitive car and whenever there's an opportunity to win in a weekend. I don't race to prove to team bosses or to prove to people my value. I race to prove to myself that if i'm given a car I can get it done and I can be up there. That's the mentality and the approach that I have and I will keep having the rest of the year," Sainz said after the Australian Grand Prix.
