22 March - 04:20

Williams driver Alexander Albon will not take part in the second practice session at the Albert Park Street Circuit, the team has reported. During the first free practice session, the Thai-British driver crashed heavily. He went too wide at turn six, ending up in the wall. Albon caused a red flag with this action.

Williams notifies fans after FP1

"‘Further to Alex’s accident in FP1, we can confirm that he will not participate in FP2 while we continue to assess the damage. Alex was uninjured in the incident," Williams said in a statement. The team also shared a picture of a covered car with it on social media.

It was not just Albon who struggled in the first free practice, but several drivers ran wide. Lando Norris managed to top the timesheet of the first practice session in Australia with Max Verstappen in his wake. Also, George Russell and Charles Leclerc were right behind the McLaren driver and the Red Bull driver. Follow the second free practice session in Australia live with GPblog's liveblog.
