Verstappen writes emotional letter: 'Means a huge amount to me'

Max Verstappen has shared an emotional open letter with his fans, looking back on his unforgettable Formula 1 season in 2023. In the letter, the Red Bull Racing driver stresses how much the support of his fans means to him.

"This season has, of course, been incredible," Verstappen opened his message. "To win 21 of the 22 races is a fantastic achievement for the whole Team, and for me to have won 19 of them is simply unbelievable. Those statistics are insane, but when people also ask me what I will remember most from this year, it’s not those figures, it’s the Team spirit and the amazing support I’ve received all over the world."

The three-time world champion stresses how important the atmosphere within Red Bull Racing is, as well as the attitude of all team members. "It is massively important to have a good atmosphere in the team and to see everyone at work, trying to do the best they can every day, and giving it all out there for you, having fun, that was really nice to see."

Verstappen with special words for his fans

"The support from fans has been really great. Obviously, you get that from the crowd at the track – and at places like the Red Bull Ring, Spa and Suzuka, it was just out of this world – but the passion for the Team shown by fans at home and the support for what I’ve been doing has been fantastic. So, I want to thank everyone for being there for us, it means a huge amount to me and everyone in the Team."

Finally, Verstappen looks ahead to the season ahead and stresses how soon the 2024 season is already upon us. "We’ve got a pretty short winter ahead now," he wrote. "So it’s really important to spend some time with family and friends before we try to do even better than this year. So, I want to wish everyone a great holiday. Have a simply lovely time and see you in 2024!
